Are you currently going through a season where it seems like you are being tested? You have faced trial after trial, and it’s not over. You have lost material things, friends, and family. You are working hard at a particular thing, and you have yet to breakthrough. You are crying out to God day and night, and it seems like God does not hear you? Some like to call it the “pruning season.” Where God is stripping you of your own way, ‘self’ and the things of this world. I’ve been there, and I’m still there. I believe I’m in the last stage of it.
It is a season that leads to elevation. If we go through the process, it will take us to the place God has prepared for us. We can’t run from that season or refuse to participate. It’s not optional it is a must. Did you know you can miss out on opportunities if you fail to properly prepare for them? Yes, you can! By coming into certain opportunities with little knowledge and maturity, they can bypass you for someone more qualified, experienced, humble or someone who took the time to go through the process.
Jesus was 30 years old when His ministry started. The ministry of Jesus lasted three years, and it was a powerful one. Even Jesus knew God had to prepare Him for the calling that was on His life. He had to wait on God to present Him with the right opportunity. Remember in John 2:1-4 Jesus was invited to a wedding with Mary, and His disciples. They ran out of wine and Mary told Him they were out. Implying He needs to do something about it.
“On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.” Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.”
It was there He performed the first miracle and began walking in God’s will. That was Jesus opportunity; He had been waiting for. You can tell He was waiting because He told Mary “my hour has not yet come.” God prepared Jesus for 30 years to fulfill the calling that was on His life. There are many of us wanting to do miracles before going through the process. We want to be the boss with no real experience. We want to get married, but we’re still holding onto to past hurt. We want God to move in our lives, but won’t let go of sin. Many don’t want to walk to the promise land; they prefer to take an airplane first class there. I’m sorry to have to break it to anyone with this mentality, but you would waste the opportunity.
We can waste opportunities if we have not taken the necessary steps to prepare for it. Opportunities are meant to help us with whatever we set out to achieve in life. Without opportunities in one’s life, you can’t accomplish any dream or goal. When I found myself unemployed, there was a lack of opportunities coming my way. It didn’t matter how much I applied for positions. But as I look back today, during that time I can honestly say God was preparing me for my current season.
Learning to juggle my job, school, this blog and a host of other things I’m involved in. It was during those periods of preparation that helped developed content for this blog. It was through my pruning season; I learned to depend on God the most (when it comes to school). I rely on God heavily for strength and understanding (my job which is very demanding). It’s not easy going back and forth to work and school. It can be draining and finding time to share God with others. Mentally it takes a lot out of you. But I do it for the Lord. God has prepared me for this season. As I’m going through this season, I am equipped by God. I know can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
You may think all the situations you have faced or continue to face are pointless. But you have no idea what God is preparing you to step into. The blessings of God are permanent. So God has to prepare you to walk in your blessings. You have to be prepared to take advantage of opportunities that will come your way. The right opportunity can change your entire life, and you want to be prepared for it. You don’t want to miss out on a life-changing opportunity because you lack in an area where you failed to prepare for. One opportunity was the turning point for Jesus ministry. There is a once in a lifetime opportunity coming make sure you are taking notes as you go through this season. These seasons we face are lessons to bring someone else out. If I didn’t take notes during my previous seasons I wouldn’t have the wisdom I have today. I wouldn’t have a story to share and encourage others.
