Happy Friday Lovelies,
We made it through another week! I decided to designate Fridays to share “my favorite things.” Things that has helped and encourage me in my spiritual walk as a Christian. For instance, Christian books I have read, gospel songs, inspirational writing on clothing (it’s a reminder, wear your faith), accessories, etc. Starting January, each month I’ll choose one of my Friday Favorites as a giveaway to one of my subscribers at the end of each month. So stay tune!
One of my favorite Christian albums right now is “The Life Project,” by Jekalyn Carr. I’m currently in a season where I’m trusting in God for great things and in the midst of believing for the manifestation of them. As always those situations are saying one thing, but the God I serve is a big a God, and He is more than able to do it. Currently, my favorite song on the album is, “you’re bigger,” there is a verse where she says,
You’re bigger than, the problems I’ve faced
You’re bigger than, the disasters that I’ve seen
You’re bigger; You’re so much bigger Jesus
than what this life may bring
This is such a powerful and anointed song. I just thought it was such an on time song for my current season and how God allowed me to stumble upon that song. I also shared the song on my Instagram a few weeks ago, and how I came across the song. Here is what I said:
“I love how God speaks in the midst of a storm to calm the raging sea and aggressive waves. God knows I love music (worship music). For every season I’ve walked through, He has use songs to speak to me, and I make it the soundtrack for that season. I’ll sleep and wake to the songs; I try not to give the enemy any room to play with my mind or magnify my situation. So I occupy my mind with gospel music or the audio version of the Bible. It’s in my meditation, and I let it resonate in my spirit because it’s a reminder from the Lord concerning what I’m going through. God will appear to you in the manner He knows how to reach you. He won’t come in a way or speak to you that you can’t understand. He will appear to you, for you to know it’s Him. I stumbled upon this song listening to Pandora last night. I was trying to sign up for Apple Music (searching for Contemporary Christian music), and I was having a hard time. So in the midst of going back forth, I turned on Pandora. Funny thing is “Greater is Coming” by Jekalyn Carr was another song God used in one of my previous seasons, and greater did come out of that season. God is so much bigger than any problem we’re facing. This song serves as a reminder to me that the blood Jesus shed and the 39 stripes Jesus received on my behalf is so much bigger than the things that can tear me apart. God is bigger than the problems I’ve faced, bigger than the disasters I’ve seen, bigger than Universe. Jesus is bigger than anything I’ve ever seen.”
I encourage you to listen to this song. Listen to the words. Allow God to minister to you. It’s a reminder of how big and great God is compared to the situation you’re facing. Sometimes the enemy will magnify our problems to make it seem like it’s bigger than God. When it’s a lie and there is nothing greater than our God. It is a song of praise and worship to God. You are taking your eyes off the problem, and you are magnifying God instead of your situation.
Reminder: If you haven’t already subscribed to “Sincerely Nicki,” I encourage you to do so. Beginning January 2017, I will be sending out a weekly (Monday – Friday) devotional. There will be a different focus each week to help you grow in your spiritual life. I will send the devotional out every Sunday. I have no intentions of blowing up your inbox every day. One for each day to help you get through your week. I’ve noticed, from the moment I leave church on a Sunday to when I begin my week. The enemy throws so many situations my way, and I know I’m not the only one. That is the plan of the devil to distract the children of God. He wants us to take our eyes off of God and focus on His antics. So that’s the purpose of the weekly devotional. To provide food to help strengthen and encourage you as you go through your week.
P.S. There will be no post on 12/12-12/14. I will resume posting on Thursday 12/15.
Until next time God Bless you richly for reading 🙂
