Worship is vital to living a successful life as a Christian. How often do you forget your situation and just worship God for who He is? Worship is the gateway into God’s presence. It gives you permission to enter. “Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name,” (Psalm 100:4).
Imagine you have a court case and you have to go to court. You need the Judge to hear your case. But to see a Judge, you must have a case. No one can go in front of a judge without a case. If you don’t have a case is the judge required to come out? Of course not. It’s the same with Jesus. Our ‘prayer‘ is the court case. Yes, we can talk to God in the natural. We all have access to God. But worship will get you into His presence. Worship is on a spiritual level; it’s reserved for God alone. You put your needs aside to get His attention. This is the time to adore the Lord. You thank Him for all He has done in your life and how great He is. It’s all about Jesus. You express your love and appreciation to Him.
Many Christians today, pray but struggle to worship. Some don’t know how to and others are stuck in prayer mode. Many pastors are leading us into prayer, but they are failing to teach us how to get the judge to hear our case. Before you ask for anything, you must first enter into His presence. You can’t just start asking for things. Remember my little parable about “going to see the judge” in the beginning?
Prayer at times can be selfish when it comes to God. You can’t always ask for things and fail to take the time to give God thanks. Friend, the next time you go before God forget yourself and just start thanking Him for everything He has done for you, past, present and to come. It will take you into higher a realm with Jesus. In His presence, He begins to speak to you and show you things. But how can God reveal Himself to you, when you did not enter in His presence? In His presence, He gives you the solution to your problems. He gives you strength for the journey ahead. You can not be in His presence and remain the same. It’s an amazing and destiny altering experience.
One you must do daily. That’s why at times some find themselves struggling to see a change in their ways and habits because they’re trying to do it on their own. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Your strength is limited. You can’t do it alone. You weren’t created to do life alone. When you get in His presence, the things you may find hard to give up. He removes and wipes it away. He does it instantly. Most of your answers are in your worship.
To enter in God’s presence is something you must do with all your heart. In 2 Samuel 6:14 you see a perfect example of King David worshipping the Lord. ” Then David danced before the Lord with all his might.” The Bible said he worshiped the Lord with all his might. Pour your heart out to God. A heart of thanksgiving will get God’s attention quicker than your prayer.
Don’t get me wrong prayer is important as well. But before prayer, you must first worship. When you enter into His presence, you can ask for anything you desire. Hebrews 4:16 confirms that.
“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
So God never said don’t pray. You have to, but there is an order to do it. You must enter before you can ask. How would you feel as soon you and your friend get together, they already asking for money? Didn’t even bother to ask how are you doing? Give you a nice compliment or just talk to you. God is no different.
Apostle John said in John 4:23-24, “we must worship God in spirit and truth.” You do not see God. But by faith you worship Him, and you believe He is real. He is spirit being. A REAL spirit alive and living inside of you.
“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
On this earth, He is looking for worshipers. To get to the next level in your walk with Christ, it will require daily worship before prayer. You will need to seek the Father. I have found at times, after worship which usually leads to prayer. It’s not even necessary because I got what I needed. To be honest, I worship more than I pray. When I pray, it’s to wage war against the enemy. I use prayer time for warfare. But everything else I get during worship with the Lord. But again this has been my experience for the past six years as a Christian. I’m simply sharing it. The Holy Spirit may lead you in a different direction. But I KNOW worship is real, and it draws us closer to God.
I want to share with you how I was taught to go before the Lord (in quiet time). And I learned this at my new church in the last year (I’ve been saved for 7 years). At my previous church, we did a lot of praying, which is fine. But I’ve found this method to be more efficient. To me, it explains why I saw a huge change take place in my life in the last year alone. If you are already familiar with this then great you are on the right track. But for those of you who are new believers etc. This is for you! The acronym for it is called ACTS which stands for:
Adoration: Adoring God through worship. Thanking God for who He is.
Confession: It’s a time of repentance. As believers, we sin daily. Whether it’s in our thoughts, deed, or actions, regular confession is good. It’s your way of emptying yourself and asking God to cleanse you of things (habits, ways, etc.) not pleasing to Him.
Thanksgiving: Thanking God for everything He has done for you, whether it’s small or big. Thank God for life, your job, your home. Why is it good to thank God for these things? Not everyone is fortunate enough to have it. So don’t take it for granted. Be grateful to God.
Supplication: That’s when you pray. You pray for your family, job, church, the world. Whatever you are lacking, ask God for it.
So let me break it down to you now. Adoration/worship will get you into His presence. So if you truly connect with Him during this time. Let me tell you because Jesus is so HOLY, you begin to realize how sinful you are and all the errors you have made. You automatically start repenting of your wrongdoings. Then after He has cleansed you, you thank Him for all He has done for you. Last but not least, you go into prayer and supplication; making your request known to Him.
I’ve experienced it and if we yield to the Holy Spirit. He will operate in that order. We worship God with our spirit (soul) with all our heart and mind. Not our flesh and not in the natural. I pray that this helps you during your time with the Lord. I know if you go before the Lord in this order. God will begin to do wonders in your life. Just as He did for me. For the next two weeks spend time in the presence of God. Let God reveal Himself to you. Ask God for revelation. Moses said, “Lord show me your glory.” Ask Him! If you don’t ask, He won’t give. The bible said we have not because we ask not. Yes God knows our needs, but He also wants to hear it from your lips.
