“Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:13-14
‘Good morning, how are you doing today?’ Can I share Jesus with you? ‘No answer!’ Good morning, can I bless you with this today? “No,” [without looking back] “Good Morning, can I extend an invitation to my church to you? [with anger] “NO, I’M GOOD!’ I was left wondering, how can someone be good and they’re angry? What are you so angry about this early in the morning? The day just started. Saturday, I went out evangelizing with my church.
I haven’t evangelized in a long time; this was my first time going out with my new church. One of my goals for 2017 is to get more involved in kingdom business, meaning to bring souls into the kingdom of God. There are too many people out there with so many problems and need a solution. There are people dying every day and going to hell. My spirit was grieved on Saturday for the people I came across. Who didn’t know what cordiality is? If someone says good morning to you, the natural thing to do is to return it right?I mean you don’t have to stop and talk.
It wasn’t like we were all in their face with ‘tracts.’ Granted I live in NYC, and New Yorkers can be a bit rude and I’m used to it. They’re always on the go with no time to spare. Their primary goal is to go from point A to B. But at what point do you slow down? When others cannot help you, what do you do? When the government has failed you, what do you do? When doctors can’t heal you, and medication is deteriorating your body, what do you do? And when YOU can’t help yourself, what do you do? When do you smile? If you have been living a certain way for a certain amount of years and you are still getting the same results. When do you change your approach to life? When does one say, ‘I NEED Jesus?’ Let me try this God. Yes, I was hurt by the church in the past, but let me give God one more try? WHEN?
As Christians, it’s so important to intercede for the people of the world and not just for your family and yourself. Christ died for the Jews and Gentiles. So we were not saved to be sanctified, blessed and stuck up. God has called each one of us to be a witness to nonbelievers. We ALL have a Ministry of Reconciliation. Which is to reconcile others back to Christ. I remember last year my pastor taught on 2 Corinthians 5:18.
“And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him.”
And it was so “Sincerely Nicki,” was birthed in the spirit. Through prayer and the spirit of God, it has taken on its own life. God gave it life. He gives me the wisdom and understanding to blog. I don’t rely on myself or abilities to do it. I depend on the leading of the Holy Spirit to lead. He knows what each person needs and will minister to their hearts accordingly. Today, I’m well aware when I share Christ with others, and if they deny Him. It’s not about me, it’s about Jesus, so I don’t take it personal. They are denying my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ because I can not do anything for them but lead them to the one who can.
I couldn’t help but wonder about those who didn’t feel the need to stop. In the midst of my thoughts, I was reminded I was once one of them. I pretended like everything was okay and I didn’t need saving. I thought I could save myself. I looked happy on the outside, and on the inside, I was in pain. I was broken and needed inner healing. I didn’t know how to smile because my life was full of disappointments. I walked around every day like the ‘Grinch who stole Christmas.” I was angry and mad at the world. Life dealt me some crappy cards, and I couldn’t get a winning hand to save my life. But then I found Jesus, who did all the saving I needed.
Someone in our evangelizing group said something so powerful to me. He said “don’t ever get discouraged when you come out to evangelize. Even if you get one soul to come, remember the Samaritan woman? She encountered Jesus and went back to her whole town and told them about Him. Many came and got saved because of her witness. So those who took the flyer by coming and seeing changes in their lives will be bear witness for others.”
I went home and started to meditate on the John 4. And I was able to tie it back to what took place Saturday. I said my God if only these people knew they were saying no to salvation, everlasting life, grace, mercies, unconditional love, peace, happiness, and joy. Everything they need and searching for in the world, they walked pass it today. They pretended like they did not see you, hear you or respect you. They denied the cross, your blood, and your resurrection. You paid it ALL for them. You ransom your only son Jesus for them. And they choose to go back home to living life in bondage. But you are still merciful enough to give them another chance. So I prayed!
Do you have an evangelism story, you would like to share? How do you deal with the rejection while sharing the love of God? I would love to hear from you.
