I’m excited to be working on new content for 2018. I’ve had my fair share of ups and down with blogging this year but I promised myself in 2018, I would take this assignment God has given to more serious. To stop making excuses for being too busy to blog or I got too much going on in my life to write encouraging words to others. Yes, I went through this struggle this year. I know this blog has been a blessing to many and the enemy has fought me all year long with it.
While reading through some previous blog post I was reminded of one of my declarations I made at the beginning of the year. Click the link to view the post. This post is proof our words have power with faith and action behind them.
I declared 2017 would be the year of completion for me. I also shared why and how to get it done. Read it and see for yourself. Here is my recap of the things I started over the years and this year by the grace of God I completed them.
Drivers Licenses: I live in NYC and I’ve had my learners permit for years. I would get it and it would expire. I’ve always felt why do I need my license especially since this is a city that relies heavily on public transportation. I’ve worked in Manhattan for the last 7 years so I’ve had to commute to work every day. Throughout the years it didn’t make sense to me to have a license or buy a car. Nonetheless, this year (in March) I got my license and bought my first car (in May).
FINALLY got my Masters: I finished undergrad in 2010 and vowed never to go back to school. In 2015 I enrolled in graduate school and I graduated this year (June).
Career – This year I had a breakout year in my career. I passed on an opportunity to move to Texas. Yes, I was not happy about it. But I don’t believe this was God’s will for me. I learned that not all open doors is from God. This position came around the same time as hurricane Harvey and I began to think. What if I was in Houston when this storm hit? I have no family close by, yes God provides. But I did not hear from Him before moving. Over the years I’ve desired a mentor and in November of this year, the Lord finally placed someone in my path to mentor me in my career. (There is more to this section but I will share the testimony next year)
Serve God Faithfully – Lastly, serving God. God has done so much for me in the last 7 years and I just wanted to serve Him this year. I wanted to be a blessing to the kingdom of God. So I became a Sunday school teacher at my church and did it faithfully.
These were personal victories for me. They may seem small to others but I know where I came from. From a place of joblessness and where doors were once shut in my face. Opportunities were scarce for me. But my declarations and faith provoked a change in my life. After all, I’ve accomplished this year the enemy still made me feel like I didn’t accomplish anything. Yes, I’m believing God for bigger goals and greater desires in my heart. I have yet to see them manifest but the God who gave me the desires will bring it to fruition. I believe and I’m declaring my 2018 will be the year of NEW BEGINNINGS. If you’re believing in God for a fresh start then feel free to run with it as well. The biblical number of 8 is associated with”new beginnings.” CHEERS to new beginnings, new breakthrough, fresh revelation of God and the resurrection of dead things in our lives in Jesus name! Happy New Years and see you on January 2, 2018, for the new blog post.
Here are a few photos from my graduation
What were some of the goals you accomplished this year?
