Welcome to part three of “Trusting God during difficult times,” series. Today we’re focusing on “prayer.” Friend, I hope you’re still with me as we press our way through this blog series. I pray this series has been encouraging to you and you’ve surrendered your situation to God. I also pray God is strengthening your faith as you continue to read. As you know John 11 is the chapter we’re studying for this series. I want to point out how important prayer is during hard times. Jesus prayed for Lazarus before calling him out from the grave. “And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. 42 And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.” As troubled as He was in the spirit when He saw Mary’s tears. He prayed because He believed God would answer His prayer. He also said something very important, He said, ” And I know that you always hear me.” Friend when you pray God hears you. He does, the enemy often put thoughts of doubt there to prevent you from praying. To make you panic when you don’t see an answer immediately. Some situation requires immediate attention and some takes times. God can do right now miracles, Lazarus was a right now miracle. However, my miracle I’ll be sharing later on (keep reading) took six weeks. During the waiting period, God used it to build my faith in Him. It was a faith exercise for me. Prayer was my source of comfort. My faith was strengthened by the Word of God.
Pray from a place of power
During difficult times prayer is your source of strength. Your prayer will bring empowerment to you internally. It gives you the hope you need to believe for change in your situation. When a saint pray things happen, especially when you’re praying from a place of power. “Nicki, what do you mean? Are you saying, I’m not praying strong enough?” Friend, certainly not. But I want you to know there is power in you. You are a container of power. You are as powerful as you believe you are. You are as powerful as you believe in God when you’re sending up those prayers. For example, when I pray, I pray revolted. I pray aggressive prayer when I feel like the challenges of life is threatening to overtake me. Either I allow it to overtake me or I overpower it. So I pray from a place of power, I believe deeply I will see a change in my life and things may not start to change immediately in the natural. But when I get off my knees, spiritually I feel empowered. Change begin to take place from the inside out. There is no way a believer can pray from a place of power and not see a change in their life. God is not dead. He is alive. Prayer changes everything. When I pray from a place of power the enemy is in trouble. Demons have to flee. If humans are standing in the way of my breakthrough or trying to oppose me. I’m very sorry #notsorry but I am a child of God. The Word of God says touch, not my anointed and do my prophet no harm. I am not a prophet but I am anointed by God and I truly feel bad for anyone who tries to oppress me or attempt to stop me from fulfilling my destiny. Friend, as children of God we are all anointed by God for something. And the enemy will often use people to stop us from walking in our purpose (that’s a different blog topic).
Pray without ceasing
As believers, we ought to live in prayer. I’m not saying you need to pray six to 10 times a day. But prayer should be a habit. It should be your way of life. My pastor always says, don’t wait until you’re in trouble to pray. You pray so you don’t run into trouble. Half the situations I found myself in had I incorporated prayer into my lifestyle faithfully. They could have been avoided. I’ll be honest, in the past when things were going well in my life, I found myself very lackadaisical when it came to my prayer life. But when I felt pressured by the challenges of life, I was on my knees knocking on Heaven’s door every single morning and night. There are many believers who are guilty of this. We’re supposed to pray whether things are good or bad. We have an enemy who is always roaming to seek whom he can devour. You have to always surround yourself with prayer. Don’t give him any room to attack. Those challenges are attacks from him and God allows them not to destroy us but to strengthen our faith in Him.You are as powerful as you believe in God when you're sending up those prayers.Click To Tweet
Pray the Word of God
I’ve seen a lot of changes in my life when I began to pray the Word of God. When I started to take scriptures that applied to my situation and began praying them nonstop. I did not stop praying them until I saw a change in my situation. In 2016, when I went on an interview for my current job. At the end of the interview, I asked the hiring manager when should I expect to hear something by. I was believing God for this position and by faith, I wanted to know when to expect my offer (LOL). She told me they still had 14 others to interview. In my mind, ” I said OH YEAH,” we’ll see about that when I get off my knees. I work in the corporate world it takes them forever and a day to fill a role. I ended up going on two rounds of interview for the same role and after six weeks of waiting for my offer. I finally got the job. But friend, do you know what I did with the information she told me? I found a scripture ” You are of God, little children, and have overcome them because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world 1 John 4:4. My prayer went like this,
” Heavenly Father, you said greater is you that’s with me than the 14 others of this world interviewing for this position. I am your daughter, I’m a tither and I sow seeds. You said the earth is yours and the fullness thereof. I believe everything on this earth belongs to you including this company and this position. Lord favor me for this role. Give me a divine favor, divine intervention and divine approval for this position. Minister to the heart of those making the decisions.”
Pray until something happens
My friend, I took this scripture and began praying it every single day until I got the call from my recruiter with my offer letter. Even though I had to wait six weeks for my answer, I refused to give up. I prayed until something happened. I prayed until I saw the manifestation of what I was believing God for. And for you to see a change in your situation. You must pray. Don’t give up. I encourage you to find a scripture in the Bible that applies to your situation and start praying it. Insert your name or whatever you’re facing in the verse and pray it faithfully. I guarantee you will see change. I challenge you to do it and email me your testimony. I’m 1000 % sure you will see change take place in your situation. I’m very confident in the Word of God. Because it’s alive. Every verse in the Bible is alive and there is a spirit behind every verse. The Bible is the manual of every believer’s life. There is something in there for every situation you will encounter in your lifetime.
