Welcome to part two of this mini-series, “22 Lisa Bevere quotes that will empower you to carry your cross like a hero.” Hopefully, you enjoyed part one and looking forward to part two like I am.
Before we get started if you have not checked out part 1, I touched on the hero like abilities in a child of God and the beauty found in your weakness. One would never pair hero and weakness together. But in this post, they go hand in hand. Click here to check out 12 of the 22 quotes I pulled from, “Girls with swords: How to carry your cross like a hero.”
Let’s get started.
Carry your cross like the hero you are
Before Jesus went to the cross, He said to His disciples in Luke 9:23-25,
“If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. 24 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. 25 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost?
Today many Christians refer to their burdens or trials as the cross they must carry. But Jesus already carried those burdens. Well if He carried them, Nicki, why am I facing them today? Friend, the trials of life are testings. It helps to develop your faith in God. Without a test, there is no testimony for you to share about the God you claim to serve. Besides after what Adam and Eve committed in the garden of Eden God did not promise you a trouble-free life. BUT when Jesus came, He reversed all that was done in the garden and said if He has overcome this world so will you. He did promise you will overcome all the trials you may face in this lifetime. But that’s not the cross Jesus asked His disciples to take up and follow Him in Luke 9:23-25.
The cross Jesus refers to is putting your flesh to death. Being able to deny yourself daily, putting aside your plans and desires to surrender your life to Him. Your willingness to do the will of God every day. You are not called to only accept Jesus as your Lord and savior. Yes, you may have salvation, now what? You are called to work out your salvation every day (Philippians 2:12). Friend, you are called to follow Him and commit your entire life to Him. You cannot be His disciple if you can’t take up your cross.
“And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.” Luke 14:27
I want you to understand Jesus already did the legwork for you and me already. What He requires from you now is your willingness to live for Him. Ask yourself this, have I surrendered my whole life to Christ completely? Am I committed to doing His will for my life? Today you do not have to carry a physical cross. You do not have to be nailed or put to death physically. But you will have to put your flesh to death spiritually to carry your cross like a hero. You will have to be brave, bold and courageous in your walk with Christ. Some days you’ll feel like being a villain because the villains seem to be winning. You won’t always want to do what is right but as the hero you are, you will die to your flesh because there is a far greater good at stake.
Girls with Swords: How to carry your cross like a hero
Now onto what inspired today’s post. I love reading Christian inspirational books by women, God has chosen to use for such a time as this to impact a new generation of women. Women of God (WOG) who are igniting the younger generation of women to be on fire for Christ. After I picked up my first book by Lisa Bevere “Girls with Swords: How to carry your cross like a hero,” I can honestly say she is my new favorite WOG. This book not only empowers you to face your challenges in life but to do it like a hero. It prepares you for spiritual warfare and teaches you to how to arm yourself with the truth of God. It encourages you to rise up and be the woman God has called you to be. Friend if you’re looking for courage and strength to face your daily battles. This is it.
I’m almost finished reading and I pulled 23 of my favorite quotes from the book to share with you today.

Here are the 13-22 of my favorite quotes from Girls with Swords: How to carry your cross like a hero.
BONUS: Becoming who God created you to be is both your best offense and your best defense against the enemy’s strategy. He obviously didn’t stop you from drawing breath. It is now time to keep him from stifling the spiritual seed God planted inside you. When the enemy oppresses, it is always because he fears what we might become.
If you’re looking for a book to empower you as you face your daily battles and encourage you to be all God has called you to be. I definitely encourage you to check out Girls with swords: How to carry your cross like a hero.
Until next time, thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed this mini-series. Be sure to share this post with someone today.
