Friend, are you currently waiting on God? Have you been praying for something and have yet to see it manifest? Maybe its been years, months or weeks, I want to reassure you, whatever it is, it shall come to pass! Before I go any further, God is faithful. There are no ifs and or buts about it. He just is. If God said it, believe He will. How? By your faith. Your faith gives you access to God. Your faith gives you access to the promises of God.
And what is faith?
Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen,” KJV.
I love the New Living Translation (NLT) interpretation of Hebrews 11:1, “Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.” Whatever you are praying for your faith will bring it to pass. You want it, but you cannot see it just yet. But your faith allows you to receive from God what you cannot do for yourself. If you could have done it then there would be no need for God. I want you to understand the things you desire to come to pass in your life, you can only get from God what your faith will allow. If you don’t believe then you have nothing to receive from God. Faith makes the impossible possible. Yes, it may sound a little harsh but the Word of God says,
“And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to Him must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him,” Hebrews 11:6.
So if you don’t believe how can you access what He promised you. How can you bask in His presence if you don’t believe? How can you have any of the things He promised if you don’t believe He can do it? If you don’t diligently seek Him in prayer for it don’t expect anything. If you don’t believe He exists then how can it manifest? Faith is a force, it brings the Word of God to life. It allows the Word of God to bring about change in your life. Faith allows you to break through your situation.
Even Jesus was unable to do many miracles in His hometown because of their unbelief (Matthew 13:55-58). They couldn’t understand how could a boy born of a carpenter claim to be the Messiah. Wasn’t He the same one who was born in a manger? They had so many questions about who He claimed to be and refused to believe.
55 Then they scoffed, “He’s just the carpenter’s son, and we know Mary, His mother, and His brothers—James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas.
56 All His sisters live right here among us. Where did He learn all these things?”
57 And they were deeply offended and refused to believe in Him.
Then Jesus told them, “A prophet is honored everywhere except in His own hometown and among his own family.”
58 And so He did
only a few miracles there because of their unbelief.
Friend, don’t be the reason the things you are praying for fail to come to pass. God promised they would but He requires your cooperation. Your faith is vital for the manifestation. It provokes your miracle into existence. One of the reasons I’m such an advocate for building faith in God’s children, I know the importance of it. I know what faith can do in the life of a believer. Faith can heal stage four cancer. Faith can open the eyes of the blind and make the lame to walk.
Without faith, life will frustrate you. Take it from someone who has been there. When I was in the world I had faith in myself and yes I was able to accomplish certain things. But I was frustrated by life, I was trying to do everything on my own. I was a “go-getter,” I went after whatever my heart desired at the time. I didn’t care anything about God’s plan for my life. The difference between my faith then and now is God. I didn’t have Him. I did not believe in Him. I wasn’t living for Him. Truth be told, friend, I was living for myself and to please me. I didn’t have access to an inheritance. I was just another lost soul. But when I was tired of taking all the beatings from life, I had no choice but surrender everything to Jesus. I was tired of pretending I was okay.
I was one of those people who reeked of self-confidence in the physical and deep down I was crying out for help. But Jesus healed my broken-heart, set me free from depression and suicidal thoughts. It took me years to get where I am today, mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. And I’m nowhere near the woman of God, He has called me to be. But I’ve made progress and progress are good. Progress shows growth. It’s all in His timing and as I continue to pray my way through the challenges of life. I believe everything He has promised me will come to pass. He has shown me His faithfulness. God has been faithful to me even when I was faithless. There are days my faith can slay any Goliath and those one-offs when I get caught up in my emotions, I fall short. Nothing wrong with falling short my dear friend, but if you ever find yourself there. Don’t remain there! Get up and keep going.
Only time will tell
Do not allow time to intimidate you while you wait. God is not intimidated by time. He is the God of the eleventh-hour. You can find yourself struggling to pay your mortgage and your house is about to go into foreclosure. God will show up at the last hour to prevent your house from foreclosure. Time means nothing to God. Stop looking at how long it’s taking. I don’t know how long you’ve been waiting for this miracle but every morning wake up with expectation and declare today is the day of my breakthrough. Today God will show up in my situation. I love Psalm 30:5,
“For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime! Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.”
First of all, no one knows when your specific morning will come. But He promised joy is coming in the morning. So if He said it, as children of God we have to believe joy is coming. You have to wake up every morning with joy in your heart until you see what you’ve been praying for. Everything starts internally and eventually makes it way externally.
Today, I encourage you to stand firm in your faith as you wait on Jesus the Author and Finisher of your faith. He knows your beginning to your end. He was there when God formed you in your mother’s womb and will be there with you through the end of times. As long as He is present in your life, everything God has promised you will come to fruition in your life. This is God’s promises, not mines. And I urge you to take hold of them and do not let them depart from you.
